2018 Makeup Inventory – Part 2: Concealers & Setting Sprays

d with VSCO with c6 preset

What’s up and happy Monday!  Today is the next part in my series of my Makeup Inventory, part 1 I will link here for you.  Part 2 is all about my current concealers and setting sprays in my collection.  Now, for the setting spray category, I don’t feel I am overloaded with products, but with concealers, I do.  I use very little product on my face, so concealer takes me a while to use up.  Also, quick side note before we move on, I know there are inconsistencies with the graphics below, bare with me.  I’m getting used to using a picture editing program and getting into a grove where I like what I create.  So, yeah.  Anyway, if you are curious about my collection, then just keep on reading!

1. BH Cosmetics Studio Pro Total Coverage Concealer$6 US

The BH Cosmetics concealer was a purchase off a recommendation from Taylor from ThaTaylaa on YouTube (link to ThaTaylaa Made Me Buy It).  This is a thicker formula and in my opinion extremely full coverage.  I feel this has the highest coverage out of all the concealers in my collection.  This product also has the most product and the most bang for your buck, $6 for 0.35oz.  Quick side note, they downsized this product, because my original concealer has 0.46oz of product.  Regardless, you need so little to cover your under eyes and it is not super heavy, although it is slightly drying.

2. Kat Von D Lock-It Concealer Creme$26 US
Affiliate Link | Regular Link
I love Kat Von D products, but this one is not a favorite.  It is a really thick formula, feels heavy on my under eyes, and is really drying.  In the future to use this product up, I plan to use it as a mix in to lighten and mattify foundations.  I’m sure it’ll be great that way, but as a concealer, this is a definite pass.

3. Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circle Treatment Concealer$9.99 US
NOT CRUELTY-FREEAffiliate Link | Regular Link
Currently, this concealer is in my 13 By Halloween Project Pan because I do want to use it up and not waste product since.  I do enjoy this concealer, it is creamy, not drying on my under eyes, but will not be repurchasing in the future.  It’s also worked as a great all over dewy and hydrating foundation on me.  The only problem, due to the fact it is so creamy and hydrating, is that it does crease fairly easy on me.

4. Tarte Shape Tape Contour Concealer$27 US
Affiliate Link | Regular Link
I feel the Tarte Shape Tape is dying out, mostly because of new concealer launches.  However, this is still a really good concealer.  It is on the drying side, but not terrible.  This is also pretty full coverage and a little goes a very long way.  For a high-end concealer, you get a considerable amount of product, so you get a lot of bang for your buck I feel, $27 for 0.3381oz of product.  Most high-end concealers stick around the 0.15-0.22oz range I’ve noticed.

5. Wet N Wild Photofocus Concealer Wand$3.99 US
Affiliate Link | Regular Link
Out of all my concealers in my collection, I would say this is my favorite.  It has about a medium coverage, not super drying, nice and creamy formula, not too thick.  Love this formula.  I love that I can find it so easily at my grocery store or drugstore and doesn’t break the bank.  This one has 0.26oz of product, but a terrible shade range.  The shade I have is the lightest and it matches my skin tone.  They definitely need an expansion of lighter and deeper shades.

1. FLOWER Beauty Seal the Deal Hydrating Setting Spray$12.99 US
Affiliate Link | Regular Link
Now I have yet to try this setting spray, least I don’t remember trying it.  I picked it up because I wanted to try more things from FLOWER Beauty and this setting spray had 4 1/2 stars on the Ulta website.  The older I’ve gotten, the more I like natural and dewier finishes.  Even though this is on the pricier side of drugstore, you are getting 3.4 fl oz of product and better value than the Milani sprays (which I really love).

2. Kat Von D Lock-It Makeup Setting Mist$26 US
Affiliate Link | Regular Link
I love this setting spray/mist.  I will say, you need to make sure you press the top down all the way when spraying your face.  It has a wonderful mister and really does help my makeup last all day, through heat, humidity, dog hair, and water.  If you are not willing to spend money on a higher-end setting spray, I would go with the Milani Make It Last (I have it listed below).  It is also really good, this one just works a bit better for me so I’m willing to pay the higher price tag.

3. Milani Make It Dewy Setting Spray$9.99 US
Affiliate Link | Regular Link
If you do not like super dewy finishes, steer clear of this bad boy.  It is fucking POTENT.  You look super dewy after a few sprays, literally 3 sprays and you look super dewy, almost oily.  So if you don’t like that look, do not pick this up.  However, I love how this spray brings back my skin to life.  I feel so glowly and my skin looks so healthy.  I use this on my really heavy, drying, mattifying foundations and it turns them into a beautiful, radiant, skin-like finish.  Love, love, love this spray!

4. Milani Make It Last Setting Spray$9.99 US
Affiliate Link | Regular Link
This is a great drugstore setting spray just to help extend the wear of your makeup.  It does not mattify your skin, it literally locks everything into place.  I have already gone through one bottle of this and am almost finished with my second.  It is not as good in my opinion as the Kat Von D one, but it is still a really great drugstore option.  If you don’t have to deal with high heat, humidity, water, and dog hair on the daily like I do, this would work great for you!

Alright, so that does it for Part 2 of my Makeup Inventory.  Do we share any products?  If so, what do you think of them?  I feel like I’m going to be using my concealers for YEARS before I ever get through them, but setting sprays are so quick for me to use up!  What about you?  Feel the same way about concealers?  What are some of your favorite concealers and setting sprays, let me know in the comments!  Well, I think that does it for me.  Thank you so much for stopping by and until next time!

2018 Makeup Inventory – Part 1: Primers & Foundations

d with VSCO with c6 preset

Here starts the beginning of a long, long journey looking into my collection.  This is going to be a long series on my blog, consisting of a total of 9 posts.  Some posts will be longer than others and I think you will see what products I tend to favor.  Today I am going to be sharing my Primers and Foundations.  Like I did with Monday’s post, I am going to have all pertinent links at the end, separating affiliate from regular links.  So, if you are interested in what Primers and Foundations I have in my collection, just keep on reading!

1. Milani Prime Shield Mattifying Face Primer
This is actually my second bottle of this primer.  Obviously, I have liked it enough to repurchase.  It has helped keep my oils at bay during this hot weather up here in Washington but I don’t know how it will do in the Texas heat and humidity.  I would like to find other mattifying primers to try, preferably drugstore, once I use up all my primers in my collection.

2. Pur Correcting Primer Illuminate & Glow (discontinued)
I bought this in support of Taylor of ThaTaylaa during a season of her 15 Days of Foundation, where her and Project Beauty Share created a shop to help raise money for Project Beauty Share.  I had never heard of it before and it has been discontinued.  It is pretty, very luminous but I don’t care for luminous primers.  I look for mattifying primers and luminous foundations.

3. Milani Prime Light Face Primer
Yet another luminizing primer.  This is apparently a pore-minimizing and strobing one.  I don’t see any pore-minimizing but it is definitely luminous.  I’ve tried it under several different foundations and it works well but it doesn’t really shine through any of the foundations.

1. Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Ultra Definition Liquid Makeup
This is my holy grail, ride or die foundation.  I have used up one of these and am almost finished with the second one.  It does not break down on me and lasts all day.  My skin looks so healthy with this foundation, I absolutely love it.  I’m trying to cut down on a lot of my high-end makeup because I truly feel you can find wonderful, cruelty-free products at the drugstore.  However, I will ALWAYS repurchase this product (as long as Urban Decay stays cruelty-free).  This product I personally feel is worth the splurge.

2. Huda Beauty #FauxFilter High Coverage Cream Foundation
When this foundation first launched, I picked it up because all the YouTubers were RAVING about it, hyping it up.  I can get this product to work pretty well but only by mixing it with more luminous foundations.  However, I have realized I can’t wear this foundation at work, even when I mix it.  It ends up looking really heavy and cakey and also breaks down.  I don’t know if it’s because of dealing with so much water, wind, hair, and humidity, but I’m going to try pulling it back out in the fall and then again in the summer when I’m down in Texas.  If you are interested in a more in-depth review, I will leave a link to my post.

3. Fiona Stiles Luminous Finish Foundation Concentrate
I ended up getting this foundation by accident.  I ordered 2 back ups of my Fiona Stiles Matte Finish Foundation Concentrate in my normal shade (01) and ordered one in a shade up (02).  Well, shade 02 was in the matte box, but I was given the luminous version.  Surprise, surprise, I love this one as well!  Now, I’ve only worn it a handful of times so I can’t give my full thoughts on it, but I am not mad about having it in my collection.

4. Fiona Stiles Matte Finish Foundation Concentrate (Have 2)
Yet another holy grail product for me.  I have gone through 2 full bottles of this and am currently working on my 3.  This is the best looking matte foundation I’ve used.  It does not look heavy or cakey and doesn’t have a straight up matte finish, but more of a satin finish.  It looks absolutely flawless on my skin and wears all day.  I also love this foundation for mixing with luminous foundations.  It helps increase the longevity and makes combos look more skin-like.  I swear by this stuff!

5. CYO Long Lasting Foundation Lifeproof (Have 2)
I picked up this foundation off of a recommendation of Taylor of ThaTaylaa on YouTube.  The reason I picked up 2 was that I truly felt I was going to love this foundation and it constantly goes out of stock.  So, to be safe I decided to grab 2.  I am not mad that I did.  I absolutely love this foundation, it wears all day, has a beautiful skin like finish, doesn’t get heavy or cakey, doesn’t break down, and the undertone is absolutely PERFECT for me.  So excited about this find!  I might do a side by side comparison with the Urban Decay and the CYO foundation, let me know if you’d like to see that!

6. Kat Von D Lock-It Foundation
Here is another foundation that I have used up one bottle in the past and repurchased.  Although I did not get the right shade.  I picked up Light 42 Neutral and for one, it is not neutral, it pulls crazy pink and two, it is extremely light.  Next time I will grab Light 45 Neutral (or maybe try it in store like a normal person lol).  However, this has been a great mix in product to help lighten foundations, extend wear time, and help with transfer.  I love this foundation, just not on its own.  On its own, it is way to heavy, dry, and cakey.  However, I love my Fiona Stiles one more so in the future I do not intend to repurchase.

7. FLOWER Beauty Light Illusion Luminous Makeup
I picked up this foundation in my last Ulta Haul but have yet to try it.  I have it in my current makeup basket for this month, link here if you are interested, but haven’t played with it yet.  I’ll keep you updated!

8. Wet N Wild MegaCushion Foundation SPF 15
Here is another product I picked up during my last Ulta Haul and just like the FLOWER Beauty foundation, I have yet to try it.  Once I do, I will definitely update!

So that does it for Part 1 of my Makeup Inventory.  I originally had 11 foundations, but I gave my Physicians Formula The Healthy Foundation to my friend who is lighter than me, is really pink toned, and is extremely dry.  I really think she will enjoy it.  But yeah, that is all the primers and foundations I currently have in my collection.  What do you think?  Too many, just enough?  How many primers and foundations do you currently own?  What are some of your favorites?  Let me know in the comments!  Well, that does it for me!  Thanks for stopping by and until next time!
